Update and News from TeacHaiti Board of Directors:
Miquette is working tirelessly for the victims of the earthquake. She is providing care in a sort of field hospital in her school, the Marines have set up a base on the school grounds and there are people camped out in all the available spaces. She continues to draw her strength from her faith in God. She does not know the fate of many of our TeacHaiti students, their teachers or their schools. The students that she has heard from have lost everything, including their homes.
The TeacHaiti Board of Directors is grateful for the overwhelming volume of inquiries we have received regarding Miquette’s safety, the fate of our students and what can they do to help the people of Haiti. For those wishing to provide immediate emergency assistance we encourage them to consider supporting one of the international organizations geared up to meet these large scale needs such as:
The Board is committed to continuing the mission of TeacHaiti, that is: To provide annual educational scholarships to some of Haiti’s neediest children who would otherwise not be able to attend school. To do this the Board has established the Earthquake Educational Recovery Fund through TeacHaiti. Donations earmarked for this fund will be used over the long term of earthquake recovery to aid our TeacHaiti students so that they will be able to return to school and continue their education. These funds may be used for clothing, uniforms, supplies, school admission fees and other needs as allocated by the Board of Directors. Donations will be received at TeacHaiti, PO. Box 1173, Detroit Lakes, MN. 56502.

The Board is so appreciative of the concern, prayers and support expressed by so many who know Miquette. As she wrote in a recent email to us, “Thank you for your prayers. God is good all the time”. |

About Us:
TeacHaiti is a non-profit organization supporting education scholarships for children in Haiti. Miquette Denie is the founder of TeacHaiti. She grew up like millions of other children in Haiti, with little access to clothing, food or healthcare. She writes: "because education has given me the audacity to dream dreams I had never thought possible before, I want to do the same for these brilliant children".
And so TeacHaiti was born.
